Who is the best bowler in the world?

  • Based on performance in the last one year in ODIs, I would rate the following as the top 2 ODI bowlers:
    (1) Ajantha Mendis: 13 matches, bowled 597 balls, conceded 357 runs, took 33 wickets, 2.54 wickets per match, 18 balls per wicket, 10.82 runs per wicket,
    (2) Brett Lee: 16 matches, bowled 826 balls, conceded 667 runs, took 30 wickets, 1.88 wickets per match, 28 balls per wicket, 22.23 runs per wicket,

    Based on performance in the last one year in Test matches, I would rate the following as the top two Test match bowlers.
    (1) Dale Steyn: 14 matches, bowled 2,750 balls, conceded 1,557 runs, took 86 wickets, 6.14 wickets per match, 32 balls per wicket, 18.1 runs per wicket,
    (2) James Anderson: 10 matches, bowled 2,247 balls, conceded 1,326 runs, took 44 wickets, 4.4 wickets per match, 51 balls per wicket, 30.14 runs per wicket,

    Muthiah Muralidharan,Shane Warne,Anil Kumble are the best according to spinners!
    In accordance with fast bowlers,Irfan Pathan is pretty good!

  • Mendis ,the new spin bowler of SriLanka.He has mesmerized our top order batsmen including,Tenduker.We have to watch ,in the next 2 years ,he is going to become ,the most difficult bowler to play.He has great control and tremendous variations in his bowling.


  • There is going to be tough fight between Ajantha Mendis and Harbhajan Singh for this spot


  • It is not an easy q, considering there are different types of bowlers, and one can't work out who is better based on mere statistics. I'd have Brett Lee in the top five, but his recent form is not all that good, and we can't place him at the bottom based on one series; you may ask who are the top five bowlers, may be that'll help
