More then one universe?!?!?!!?

  • I heard on National Geographic that if there were more then one universe then our universe was created when two other universes collided and that's what caused the big bang, once again, i heard it on nation geo lol.


  • Yes. But I can introduce one more hypothesis !! i mean why not a chain of universe. This means you can find a whole new universe within
    a universe, I know it's hard to understand, but take a example.Imagine
    a dot on your table as a big universe. This way you could find uncountable no. of universe.

    But it is for sure that universe are the result of collusion's.

  • Retardedness... Universe means EVERYTHING... Can't possible be everything twice it just can not happen. Its one of thouse universal truths. They do exist and they suck but at least they suck for a reason.


  • The Multiverse (or meta-universe) is hypothesised in Quantum physics. It is difficult to test though, unsuprisingly. What you are talking about is Membrane (M-Theory).


  • Yeah, they like to talk about that kind of stuff. They make up extra dimensions, too. It's all an attempt to get oneself noticed and to avoid the real question of how it all began -- which they are too embarrassed and frustrated to admit they can't begin to answer. It seems that some scientists try a little too hard to be considered gurus and some of them use the popular media instead of peer review to advance themselves.

    I think this multiple universes thing is a lot of hogwash. You should realize that not one of these gurus can show any evidence to support that claim. Some claim some cryptic mathematical equations to sound more academically lofty, but I'd be willing to bet that none of them is based on any physical reality. You might as well say "(a+bn)/n = x. Therefore God exists!"

    So not only do I believe all such claims are wrong, but I think those who claim them are dishonestly promoting themselves at the expense of scientific credibility. The Discovery Channel is not a part of the peer review process.

    As some others have said, "Universe" means everything. You do NOT divide it up into other little universes. In most cases, these constructs are purely imaginary, sort of like describing your reflection in a mirror as part of another universe, or saying that with each quantum event a new universe is created. It's bunk. Insulting bunk. And it gets even more insulting when they start saying things like maybe we can travel through time or faster than the speed of light because of these *other* universes.

  • i think they are running out of stuff and they have to make up things to keep the funding coming in. a lot of people depend on that money for their livelyhood. thus..the collider...40 billion dollars...thats kept some people pretty tidy for awhile now. but then you have someone like stephen hawking, one of the foremost recognized physicist of all time who says...they aren't going to find anything...nothing...zip.

    here, i'll make one up for you....there are three universes alltogether who have collided and where they all cross is us. each universe represents a third of the three dimensional world we live in. also a fourth one is passing nearby causing gravity and time.......prove me wrong.

  • Yes and no. Even if there is an infinite number of universes they are all part of THE universe.
    Conversely, the space that we occupy, and that all of the galaxies we know of [appear to be] expanding from one central point, the center of this universe. Say you cook multiple loaves of bread in one oven. Each loaf expands independently of the others, but they have no way of recognizing the other loaves right next to them.


  • Yes I believe it is still a hypothesis, which is related to string theory. But if it is true then they think that gravity is not present in our universe, but it leaks through from another.
