for Christmas? I was talking to a co-worker and she said they get their kids three presents from them and nothing from Santa. She said she just puts a few trinkets in the stocking for Christmas morning but that's it. I asked her why and she said Jesus only got three presents so she explained to her kids that they shouldn't get more than Jesus. I think it's a pretty good idea if you are religious. Each of her kids gets one box with clothing and the other two are toys or other things like that. It keeps the children from expecting mountains of presents each year and it also teaches them to appreciate what they have. I don't do this with my Children but I do have a limit. Each Child gets 5-6 presents from us and only a stocking until they are a bit older and understand. Probably starting next year or the year after depending. My son will be two next year. What is your limit from your children? My Mom told me that she got my brother and sister (they are quite younger than me) 4 presents a piece since they wanted more expensive items. My sister got the bare minerals make-up as her most expensive gift and my brother got an ipod. The rest are probably video games and clothing. My Mom bought me a bra from Victoria's Secret and some other stuff I'm not sure of probably clothing. She bought my fiance a sweatshirt from Aero and she got the kids clothing and a few toys. I have no idea what to get her. Please help if you can with ideas. She wants to move and is trying to get rid of everything so I don't want to give her anything else to pack-up. I can't afford to buy a lot. She doesn't expect it since she knows we don't have the money but still I don't know what to get for her. Thanks.I have 3 children aged 7, 3 and 1. I am currently laid off from my job and my boyfriend has just gotten a good job after being laid off as well. Times are hard. Luckily i was getting stuff here and there starting in August, they each have 2 outfits (50 total) and 4 toys(150 total). So we have spend 200 dollars on our kids since august. They will be happy with what they get, and will be even happier to be eating the cookies and fudge that mommy makes!!!!That is exactly what I tell my kids - except they get 3 gifts from Santa - a stocking (actually we use shoes not stockings) and then they get a present from mom and dad - usually underwear, socks and an outfit.
You might want to give your mom a "gift certificate" for something like free help packing. Give your time instead of money (I know sometimes time is hard to come by sometimes too LOL)I GET THEM 2. 1 THAT THE NEED OR IS WORN OUT. AND 1 THING THEY ASK SANTA 4.Someone once told me this:
4 presents... 1 thing to read, 1 thing to wear, 1 thing they need, and 1 thing they want.I think that I have 15 things for my daughter, most of them are things that she actually needs, clothes mostly, I got her a 3 dolls and a few movies and a pair of boots that she has been asking for. I also got her some books, she loving reading, but to me books are always the best material thing that can be given.Try gifts.com You can type in a persons personality and it will give you all sorts of tdeas. Best of luck!aww i think that is a cool idea about 3 presents thing.. it really keeps the meaning of christmas in there! i think children already expect too much, due to the media. my son is only 19 months old, but we got him a TMX Elmo, a truck w/ blocks in it, 2 outfits, and a couple of little trucks, a little motorcycle, and an Elmo DVD. I spent under $100.Parents like presents that are homemade. Making her a card will mean more than any purchased item. Even if you are grown up. Maybe tell her in the card that for her christmas gift you will help her to move or something.totes---- they are reusable and will help in moving?Wow thats a long paragraph! Does it help if i say that christmas isn't about presents or gifts? Your son's only two years old, he won't care.
As for your mother - she sounds like a busy lady with all the moving and stuff, how about a voucher for a day spa (if she's into that kind of thing) or go with what the other respondent said and get her something that helps her when she moves out (maybe some cleaners or furniture movers e.t.c). Of course if you help, it will be even more special!I too try not to go too overboard b/c I want my children to understand that it's jesus's birthday we are celebrating. They are very loving children and quite religious too so they are the first ones to tell you why we celebrate christmas!!
last year was tough for us ( I was a single mom)-my kids got clothing a coworker had given me that her daughter had outgrown (hardly worn stuff but still not new-places like gymboree, gap, etc) and a doll each. I felt horrible but my kids were still happy and excited to play with their dolls.
this year has been much better (i'm now living w/my bf and finances are stable) so we are doing a little making up. each one of my girls (ages 9,7 ,and 6) is getting about 15 gifts from santa (1-2 large ones and the others little things) and about 5-6 from me/my bf. alot of it is stuff they need though -new clothes(mervyn's was closing in my area-i got everything 80%off), shoes, etcAll my children are grown now, so the two oldest will be getting money, which they will most appreciate as they are out on their own. My daughter wants gifts, so I will be spending on her the same amount as I will be giving her brothers. It does get easier as they get older, if more expensive. LOL
As for your mother, she sounds like a great woman. I'm sure you want to give her something that will be special. Since she is moving, maybe you can give her a guide to the area she's moving to. Something that lists the restaurants, stores, grocery stores, etc. You could probably print this from an online website, then put it in a nice folder, maybe with tabs listing the different categories. Or you could get her a bunch of nice storage boxes, like from K-Mart, with bubble wrap included, and a "coupon" you make up for "Free two days of helping you pack and move!" If you have a significant other/husband, you can ask them if they'd be willing to help a couple of days, and include them on the coupon. Something like, "TWO DAYS FREE PACKING & MOVING HELP! MUSCLES INCLUDED!"
I hope this helps. :)videos and music
5 present at the least
y0u reletives can buy him giftsOn Christ's birthday, none. On their birthday, I get some really good gifts for them, and save back some money for things they want throughout the year. They didn't always understand or appreciate my thinking, but, on their 20th birthdays, when I bought each of them their first brand new car, which was fashionable, popular, mechanically the best in that category, and two years full insurance, they finally, fully, caught on. God Bless you.ten things for my three year old (300 dollars) 2 things from his grandma (500 dollars) and my 3 month old i just got him a nice play mat thing since he's still so young. we tend to go overboard at Christmas, but that's just because i love Christmas time. :)OMG! THREE PRESENTS!!!
I get at LEAST 20 each year, not including stockings.
This year, it's kind of rough, so I only get 23. =[[[[[#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
