Multiple subdomains with one domain forum?

Posted in: zjnq.com Date: March 13th, 2010

  • Ok... looking to see if this is possible or if we'd need to purchase A LOT of licenses for this...

Setting up a main site with 30 subdomains which all link to the main site. With this, we're looking to setup the VB software. Assuming that the one forum can be used to support the subdomains, but wouldn't assume that the content could instantly update to that subdomain... (i.e... honda.cars.com and toyota.cars.com)... looking to see if one forum could update so that the honda portion is displayed for that section and then the toyota portion would update for that section when selected (not using those domains).

Thinking about this dream of an idea or possibly registering 30+ domains and then getting a lot of 30 licenses of VB.

Ideally we're building a sports site for various teams and would like the teams represented by the subdomains and the forum update for each particular team.

Any ideas or insight relating to VB would be appreciated. Like the VB software and just looking how to implement it properly..

    Thanks... pamon

  • That is possible and doesn't go against the license agreement as long as you only run 1 instance of vbulletin and have the subdomains pull info from that main domain to list info.

  • Will the forums be recognizable as part of the same setup?
Or will they act like independant forums?
