Would some aborted babies, if allowed to live, have gone on to become great leaders, scientists, and artists?

  • Since the US Supreme Court legalized abortion in 1973 by judicial fiat, some 40 million babies have been aborted. Were they all unwanted? Or were some, perhaps many, the scholars, inventors, entrepreneurs, and entertainers who would have enriched our lives? Were talking about one third of all the babies conceived in the last 35 years--9 kids out of every class of 27.

  • Be careful, your wielding a double sided sword. You could also say they would be murderers, rapist, or internet child molesters. (cough, cough) Point being do we want more people on this earth? Diease, poverty, and starvation tell me no.

  • the stem cells we get from babies would probably be more useful then all those kids

  • We are predestined before we are even conceived... so who knows?

  • yeah a baby dies every 21 seconds i think it is to abortion....i think youre right. my teachers brother can never find a girl for him and he says he honestly thinks the perfect girl for him was aborted =(

think about how many abortions COULD have happened. a teenage girl unmarried and scared to bring a child into the world, scared of what her friends and family would think...should she abort the baby? if yes, you just aborted Jesus

theres something liek that and anotehr like they lived in a small house with 14 kids or something like that, if you would say its ok to abort this baby you wouldve just aborted abraham lincoln, and its got like 3 scenarios and then theres the Jesus one. its really impacting for people who are pro-choice. its a known fact that more babies were aborted than people died in a war - EVER. my friends HUGE on prolife and found allt hese statistics and everything i could go on forever

  • Would some Christians, if allowed to freely exercise their intellect with regards to "evil" fields of study that prove the universe is more than 6,000 years old (like biology, astronomy, history, linguistics, umm almost everything), would they have gone on to become great scientists?

  • Yes they would have. But they are Now safe and wanted in heaven with Jesus.

  • i honestly believe they would have. i believe many of them would have changed the world if they had been given the chance to live. in my opinion abortion is wrong, i dont know what made people oblivious to the fact that they are killing, but its just wrong.

  • nobody knows the answer to that question, but it is interesting to think about

  • And yet we have more people in America now than ever before. We had inventors and intelligent people in the 20's, and we should therefore have more of them now.

I don't know if you've looked at nanotechnology or genetics lately, but we have some amazing minds out there. I think we're doing just fine.

  • Yeah, Hitler, Manson, Marx,Bush.....

  • But think of how many potential Hitlers and George Bushes were prevented.

How many unwanted orphans have you adopted? Every pro-life person should adopt at least one orphan if they're true to their word.

Edit-- The Asker, a single abortion might already have saved us from WW3, just as an abortion of Hitler might have saved us from WW2 which cost more lives than all the abortions done since 1973.

  • How many? Probably less than the number that would have gone on to become murderers, drug dealers and serial rapists.

How happy and fulfilled is a child's life going to be if its mother was forced to give birth? Would she see that it gets all the advantages or will she resent having to care for a child she never wanted?

Do you think birth control is criminal? What if someone who used birth control might have given birth to a great scientist? What if someone decides to remain single and childless? Aren't they sinning by refusing to give birth to as many babies as possible in case one of them might do something good?

  • Yes. One of those aborted babies could have discovered the cure for AIDS or cancer or diabetes

  • maybe. who knows...

some rationalize abortion is better because what if those aborted babies become the next Hitler? haha, stupid selfish people! how many Hitlers are there?

  • Sure, but if we're going to play "what if?" maybe we're looking at the next Hitler, or some such.
    Truth is, we'll never know.

  • No, the soul does not connect until during or after birth.

  • Possibly a few. How many more would have been sociopaths? It is more telling that crime rates fell over the same period of time. Unwanted babies are likely to become unwanted adults.

  • maybe so

  • That's quite possible that we lost many good people who might have found a cure for cancer or developed medical break through procedures etc. but never go the chance.

  • I think most of them would have been born handicapped or unloved and welfare cases and many would have been abused and killed before they became adults and many would have been drug addicts and criminals growing up unloved and unwanted.
but that is just my take on it

  • You can't abort a baby. That is murder. You abort a foetus. In fact, you terminate a pregnancy, and the body aborts the foetus, which also takes place naturally in a miscarriage. That said, 'would' means nothing at all in this context. There are too many variables at stake for conjecture on what might have happened to have any basis in reality. Would you be less intolerant if you weren't so religious? No, for the simple reason that you wouldn't be you.

  • Certainly. How about aborted Hitlers, Pol Pots and George W Shrubs? Ever thought of those?

    Dammit, Smiling :)

  • You forget about the possible thousands of babies that may have become potential criminals and completely ignored their education. Sure some many have been the ones to invent the cure for cancer or AIDS, but many, many more may have been the ones to kill those people in a car crash, "accident," or murder. I'm not trying to say abortion is good because of this, I'm trying to propose the other side of the argument. Not everyone born into this world is bad, most are good, but just think about those people who could grow up to be criminals. And no, they didn't have to be the ones to become the next Hitler.

  • No.

  • smiling how can u say that? everybody has a right to live and aborting babies is (in my mind)is a way to save money!!!if you don't have a baby you wont have to deal with spending money and time finding a parent.if anyone thinks aborting baby's is ok... your just a sick minded (pardon my french) baZ-trd

  • Without a doubt, out of the millions of children that have been murdered over the years, (some call it abortion... i call it what it is... murder) without question there are children that could have grown to have been wonderful people. Who is to say, doctors, lawyers, scientists, biologists, Presidents, world diplomats..... who knows (God knows).

  • It's possible. That's one argument I have heard knocked around. We don't know because, well, they're not here.

Look, I always felt this, like any other question of medical matters or whether something is murder is a state issue (well before Sarah Palin embarassed all of us who feel that way) and the money spent on the issue could have been so better spent promoting contraception. Many of these 40 million abortions would never have happened.

  • yes

  • Yup. There would also have been paedophiles, serial killers and fascist dictators too.

  • Definitely some would have been great. Others would have been criminals.

They were most probably unwanted by the parents. The parents obviously who choose to have abortions just don't know what they really want.
